OOM SCHALK AND THE SCULPTOR – David Muller & Johan Steyn
Oom Schalk Lourens is alive and well and may be found telling H C Bosman stories in the Atterbury Theatre this autumn, May 9th and 10th. Directed by Celia Musikanth, the seasoned Cape Town actor, David Muller has taken over from Patrick Mynhardt and is bringing his innovative and unusual show to Pretoria for a short season.
“Unusual because it’s never been done before… in the north,” says Muller, “Well known South African Sculptor, Johan Steyn, is joining me on stage with his form of visual art.”
The staging of Oom Schalk & the Sculptor combines physical art and visual art, sculpting. What Johan will be sculpting while Muller is telling stories remains as a surprise for the audience.
“All I can say is that the piece of work not only ties in with the Bosman stories but will be completed by the time I have finished the last tale,” explains the actor.
The Atterbury Theatre is pleased to be the first in Pretoria to stage Oom Schalk & the Sculptor on Tuesday 9th & Wednesday 10th May at 19h00. Go to seatme.co.za to book your ticket for this extraordinary, out of the common and off the wall show.
Al is jy Afrikaans sprekend, Bosman het Afrikaans in Engels geskryf; the sculpting of course, is another language altogether,” the actor grins
