Mimi sing Mimi: Amira Willighagen & Charl du Plessis
Amira Willighagen shot to fame when she won Holland’s Got Talent in 2013 at the age of 9. Since then she has collaborated with leading artists and have even appeared with the world famous André Rieu and his orchestra. She moved to South Africa in 2018 and has just matriculated with top academic colours. Amira has the nickname Mimi and her fascination with Kammersängerin Mimi Coertse has lead to this tribute concert: Mimi sing Mimi. Amira’s love for the Afrikaans language is displayed in a selection of the most famous old Afrikaans folksongs made famous by Mimi Coertse: O Boerplaas, Die Berggans and Heimwee amoungst others. The programme will also include a selection of Lieder and famous arias from the world of opera and operetta. Amira performs with pianist and Steinway Artist Charl du Plessis who is the musical director for this duo performance.
